In the world of Internet marketing, noise and distraction is almost as prevalent as making money online. There is a wealth of valuable information out there on how to make money, but there’s an equal amount of debris that has no value just waiting to suck up your time. If you fall into one of these useless traps of no-information information pits, you’ll wind up wasting a lot of time getting frustrated and learning nothing. Ignore All Those Great Deals That Flood Your Inbox

While focusing might seem an uncomplicated step, it’s not as easy as you think. When it comes to Internet marketing, distraction is the norm, and it takes discipline to ignore all the great offers on the Net being offered and sticking with what you know works. It’s not unheard of to find yourself surfing the  web aimlessly following links from site to site looking for the next big thing.

Setup Your Goals In Chunks

While it may be a fascinating exercise, it isn’t the best use of your time if you’re looking to make the most of your time online. You need to have a clear set of goals that you want to achieve on a daily, weekly and monthly basis as well as a long term plan for overall results. Each unproductive activity needs to be eliminated when you are trying to achieve a specific goal.

You Don’t Need To Know Everything To Be Successful

Don’t attempt to discover everything about everything, but start each and every day with a list of tasks that need to be accomplished and then set priorities for doing it. Focus on what is your priority and avoid multitasking. While it might seem cool to do multiple things at one time, studies have shown that human beings work best and fastest doing one thing at a time. Multitasking is seriously overrated especially when it comes to online marketing. It might look cool, but all it leads to is frustration and lots of tasks started with no completions.

Checking Your Email

Avoid the email checking trap. I’m just going to check my email every 10 seconds to see if anything important has come in since the last time I checked my email 10 seconds ago. Beleive it or not, we waste a lot of time checking and rechecking email because it’s instant. Where we used to look at the mail once a day, because that’s how many deliveries we got daily, email is a big time waster addiction that should be broken quickly.

Do One Thing At A Time

Focus on doing tasks, including taking time to check your email two to three times a day for a specific amount of time. Whatever has been sent will still be sitting there, and trust me, your response timely doesn’t mean every 10 seconds. Even if you limit email checking to once an hour, you will get a whole lot more accomplished. I check my email every couple hours, and respond to stuff about three times a day. I’m just not that important, and neither are you. If you were, you’d have an assistant who’s only job was to check and respond to your emails.

Map Out Your Tasks for the Day

If you are on the Internet to make money, get your tasks for money making listed, approximate the amount of time it will take you to achieve each tasks and map out your day based on the things you need to do. Put the stuff you do daily, like writing a post to your blog, or guest posting on another site at the top. You know how to do these types of things with little to no thought.

Knock Out The Tasks You’re Familiar With

So, take advantage of your pre-knowledge and knock these tasks out quickly.  Then you’ll be ready to tackle the tasks you’re not familiar with that take more thought. For instance, you might be starting a new campaign to get better rankings for your site. It might take you time to learn a new piece of software, or implement a system that will allow you to get more traffic. Whatever it is, in the beginning it will take you more time, so put that after the daily tasks that you can knock out in your sleep.
